Update on Budget Forums

Excellent Attendance for Budget Forums

The Budget Forums that took place last Saturday throughout Jefferson County were well attended with nearly 600 community members, parents and staff at the informational meetings. It was great to see such active participation among the parties involved.

"The 2011/2012 budget development process began in October. There will be many challenges which include uncertainties at the state level and legislative actions which won’t be finalized until May 2011. The District is planning for at least $26 million in reductions next year and over $75 million in reductions over the next four years."

"The meetings invited the public to learn about the district budget, where the funding dollars come from and to voice concerns for the cuts they may see in the future.

The Power Point presentation below highlights the district's budget challenges and was shown at all the forums.

Keep in mind that these proposals are only a starting point. The School District held these forums to discuss its challenges and to gather public feedback. If you have your own ideas, email the Jefferson County Board of Education or The Jeffco School District's Superintendent.

budget read the"Dollars & Sense" brochure.
