Preliminary Facilities Master Plan

 January 7, 2011

 Dear Parents,

You may be hearing about Jeffco’s new preliminary Facilities Master Plan which recently was presented to members of the Board of Education.  The master plan reflects nearly two years of work on the part of district staff and consultants.  It is a data-based, independent analysis and assessment of all the district’s facilities.  The five-year plan has recommendations which include some school closures, repurposing of schools and changes in grade configurations. It is standard and best practice for any district as large as Jeffco to have a long-term facilities master plan.

This preliminary master plan is a set of recommendations.  These recommendations are not final and no decisions have been made.  The Board of Education will be considering this plan during future meetings.  Our school is not impacted by any of the master plan recommendations.  However, I would encourage you to read the details of the plan which are posted on the district’s website at www.jeffcopublicschools.org.

Once again, please keep in mind that this is a preliminary plan; any final decisions regarding facilities will be made by the Board of Education in the coming weeks and months.  You will have a chance to make your voice heard.  Beginning Thursday, Jan. 13, you will have access to a tool for comments.  You will find this tool on the district’s website.  I will also notify you about additional opportunities to give input as soon as I have that information.

This plan is preliminary and is subject to change.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 303-982-5255.  Thank you for your support of our school.

Sincerely,
Dr. Michael P. Musick, principal
Conifer High School
