Volunteer Opportunities

The PTSA at CHS has many programs that help parents, teachers and students but we can't run these programs without the help of our wonderful volunteers. When you get involved in PTSA,  you are taking a major step toward improving your child’s school as well as your community but the child who benefits the most from your involvement is your own.

  • Over 30 years of research shows that one of the most effective ways to increase student achievement is for parents to be actively involved in the education of their children.
  • When parents are involved students tend to achieve more, regardless of socio-economic status, ethnic/racial background or parents’ educational level.

  • When parents are involved in students’ education, those students generally have high grades and test scores, better attendance, and more consistently complete homework.

  • Students whose parents are involved in their lives have higher education rates and greater enrollment rates in post secondary education.

How You Can Help!

There are many ways to get involved in PTSA. Below are two of the main events that need coordinators and volunteers.
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences. PTSA parents provide dinner for the teachers who put in long hours through the evening for the Fall and Winter Parent/Teacher Conferences.

  • After Prom Party. The largest event of the school year is the After-Prom Party in April. It’s a free event for the juniors and seniors that starts about 11 p.m. . It takes many hands in preparing for this event.
